Birth and Postpartum Doula

Debi Azubel, birth doulaBirth is a rite of passage and a walk into the unknown. A postpartum doula can support you as a mama so that you can feel safe to gently and easefully awaken to your own inner knowing around what your baby needs.

There is so much information coming at us when we’re preparing for motherhood – we’re offered opinions disguised as facts from the media, books and from family members and well-meaning friends – and much of it is subjective and much more of it is nonsense – but how do we create space and time to hear the inner knowing of our own unique voice as a mama?

Having a doula on your team as you prepare for and enter the space of motherhood can dramatically change your experience. A doula knows that you already innately know how to be a mother and their work is to support you to hear you own, inner voice.

This is a different experience than you’re likely to have if you invite your mother, your sister, your girlfriends to support you. A doula is trained to remember, always, to help guide you back to YOUR wisdom. Because we all do it differently.

A postpartum doula is there to support you through these early moments of motherhood. Doula support can look like home visits with bodywork, parenting support, light domestic help, assistance integrating your baby into your family with younger siblings and partner, home-cooked meals and welcoming rituals.

Every family’s needs are different, and every mama feels differently in the support she requires. Packages can be tailored to your individual preferences. Some examples are listed below.
